Welcome! I’m Amy Saglibene-Parmelee, a Registered Nurse, BSN and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My professional journey has led me to assist mothers and their babies in both Rochester, New York, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Serving mothers and babies isn’t just a job for me; it’s a dedication born out of passion and a profound understanding of the intricacies of motherhood. My unique perspective allows me to resonate deeply with the anxieties, aspirations, and questions new mothers frequently face.
Beyond assisting new moms, my expertise extends to aiding mothers with older babies. Understanding the challenges that arise when mothers resume work, I am equipped with the knowledge, experience and empathy to guide them in maintaining a fulfilling breastfeeding relationship and offering alternatives and options based on the ebbs and flows of a mom’s day-to-day.
My mission is to meet the mom and baby where they are, help create a realistic and fulfilling plan, ensuring that both the mother and baby’s needs are prioritized and addressed with utmost care.
Lactation consultants provide essential support for breastfeeding mothers. Their guidance can make a huge difference in the success of the breastfeeding journey. With the help of technology, consultations are offered both in-person and virtually. This flexibility allows mothers to choose the best format for their needs and preferences.
In-Person Lactation Consulting: In-person lactation consulting gives mothers hands-on support, which is especially helpful for first-timers. I can directly assess the baby’s latch, evaluate feeding issues, and provide real-time adjustments. This in-person connection offers mothers comfort and reassurance. These sessions allow for instant feedback, ensuring she leaves feeling confident and supported.
Virtual Lactation Consulting: Virtual sessions offer exceptional convenience, especially for mothers with limited mobility or those in remote locations. Using video conferencing, consultants can still visually assess feeding, provide demonstrations, and offer guidance. While hands-on adjustments aren’t possible, clear instructions and visual aids effectively support the mother’s breastfeeding journey.
Virtual consultations are conducted via Milk Notes, a HIPAA-compliant telemedicine platform.
Insurance: As a member of The Lactation Network (TLN), this allows me to accept over 700 insurance providers including BlueCross BlueShield, Excellus, United Healthcare, Anthem, aetna, MVP, Cigma, Select Health, Fidelis Care, WellCare, Humana, United American Insurance and more.
Self Pay: If your insurance doesn’t reimburse for lactation services you have the option to self-pay in which I can provide you a super bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
